Latest news
An order has been placed in this buying cycle with Winson Petroleum
Lets get together...
It all started when...
We were looking for the cheapest supplier of heating oil and realised that the biggest savings can be achieved by friends and neighbours grouping together to purchase their heating oil at the same time. We have set up this scheme in the hope that as many people as possible will join in so that we can all benefit from bulk purchase discounts. We propose to order 4 times a year.
Are you interested
Let us know if you are interested and when you think you will be ordering next. We will try to arrange the next buying cycle to suit everyone. The on-line order form.
Guidelines
How it works
The scheme is set up to purchase heating oil (kerosene, 28 second) only.Notices will be placed in The Whitstone Whistler magazine, on the village website and in the village shop to advise when the next order will be placed (approximately four times a year). You let us know that you require a delivery by using the on-line form below or by post using the oil request form. You will need to say how much oil you require (minimum order 500 litres) and any special delivery instructions. We contact the various companies for the best price based on the total volume required in any one buying cycle and place an order for an estimated volume and the details of drops required. The oil is delivered on an agreed day or days (usually within 4 days of placing the order) – the supplier sends an invoice for the oil delivered to your address (if it is the first delivery from a particular supplier they usually need your card details before delivery, thereafter they are prepared to invoice you after delivery). The invoice is payable direct to the supplier by you in accordance with the suppliers requirements. PLEASE NOTE: THE CONSORTIUM DOES NOT HANDLE ANY MONEY WHATSOEVER
Who can join
Initially anyone who lives within Whitstone Area but we hope to extend this in the near future if the scheme is popular
Please remember
We won't know the discounted price before it is negotiated with the supplier, so we can't tell exactly how much we will be paying per litre in advance. Similarly, we don't know who the supplier will be; we will choose the one offering the best price at the time. Once the supplier is chosen and the order placed by us, a notice will be posted on the village web site informing of the chosen supplier and the agreed price per litre. Once you have submitted your request to us you are obligated to receive the delivery – we ask you not to pull out of a deal because that might affect the price that everyone else pays. All deliveries are most likely to be completed on the same day in any one area (to suit supplier), so residents need to ensure that the delivery driver can access their tank easily. Please note: IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ADVISE ANY ACCESS DIFFICULTIES OR SPECIAL PROVISIONS THAT MAY BE REQUIRED WELL IN ADVANCE OF THE DELIVERY DATE. This information can be supplied by you, stored on the database and used to notify the chosen supplier. The Consortium acts as the agent in facilitating the placing of an order on your behalf, but once placed, the contract of supply is between you and the chosen supplier. We cannot accept responsibility for anything that might go wrong on the day. We are volunteers, so you are requested to keep things as simple and concise as possible when communicating your requirements. (October 2011)
